A Non-Cellphone Pic Of Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum
Curbed Miami
by Sean McCaughan
Us and our big mouths. Two days after meeting developers Gregg Covin and Louis Birdman at a party and just gushing to them about the international media attention they’ll receive for their new Zaha Hadid-designed One Thousand Museumtower, they go ahead and get that media attention at the Wall Street Journal! The Journal (and, ahem, not Curbed) had the first publicly released image of the tower not taken by a cellphone (after we’d released two taken by cellphones) and a few details about just how big of a deal this klingon-esque tower is. Here’s a quick recap: (A) It will be really expensive, especially for downtown Miami (B) The units, either half-floor or full floor, are biiiig (C) The balconies, which are apparently not Zaha’s cup of tea, are designed to be visually obscured by the exoskeleton (D) they plan to start construction by the beginning of next year (E) there is some obscurity as to the source of the funding (but considering how much high-end real estate is traded in cash around here, we don’t exactly see what the big problem is).
