Goldman Properties is asking the City of Miami to rezone a parcel of land in Wynwood for a boutique hotel, condo units and a floor of retail.Members of the family of the late Wynwood resurrector Tony Goldman half-own the parcel at 235 NW 27th St., one of their many holdings in the neighborhood, and right in the heart of Wynwood’s monthly art walk/street party.

In a conceptual plan produced by architecture firm ADD Inc., and as part of a pledge to carry out Goldman’s dream of converting warehouses and vacant lots into mixed-use and artists’ studios and galleries, retail would wrap the street frontage along with the hotel lobby. The building would also contain 110 hotel rooms, 55 residences and some sort ofcommunity space for neighbors. The Goldmans’ voluntary concession is to cap the project at eight stories, which means it will still be much taller than nearly any other building in the hood but not absurdly so. The city is expected to decide on the request this week. It should, of course, be mentioned that this lot sits within a larger chunk of choice lots, the “Wynwood Gateway”, that the city is (conveniently?) eyeballing for an upzone.
