Attracting Investors Abroad
China is the world’s second-largest economy, and its buyers are often seeking lucrative business and investment opportunities. The city of Miami is brimming with new developments that can provide significant financial opportunities, but reaching out to powerful foreign investors like the Chinese requires some degree of legwork, with local developers proposing initiatives to boost interest in Miami among Asian investors.
The developer of the Paramount Miami Worldcenter recently took the initiative and decided to travel to China and hire a local PR firm to promote the building, having press releases written for the building in Chinese to boost credibility. Although such a tactic may seem trivial, the developer’s efforts resulted in increased interest, and now over ten percent of the Paramount Miami Worldcenter are Chinese.
A significant portion of attracting foreign buyers is removing generalizations due to ignorance. For example, this same developer stated that many of the people he met associated Miami with the television series CSI: Miami, a show that’s filmed mainly in Los Angeles. Removing these pre-conceived notions is fundamental in developing programs to educate buyers about the Magic City’s appeal.
Have you taken any steps towards working with foreign buyers? How would you go about reaching out to global investors? Share your stories and ideas.
