Construction on All Aboard Florida Could Begin Immediately

If South Florida’s new intercity passenger rail line All Aboard Floridasticks with a statement in a private company prospectus obtained by the Palm Beach Daily News, construction will begin immediately, or even… rest our beating hearts, has begun already. According to the Daily News “The bond prospectus says construction will begin as soon as the successful offering is finalized, which occurred Thursday.” This is, of course, absolutely massive news, and Curbed eagerly awaits confirmation from the FEC.
The prospectus is for a bond issue for the Miami-Palm Beach leg of the trip, which is being financed first and separately from the Palm Beach-Orlando leg. It seems construction on that leg will begin later. The prospectus also states that passenger fares will be around $30 from Miami to West Palm in Coach, and $36 if you go business class, according to exMiami. They will spend $150 million on the Miami station (which probably doesn’t include the towers coming in later phases, because you know those things are expensive) and less on the Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach stops.
