Mapping Miami’s 4th Of July Fireworks Shows, 2014 Edition

Feeling a little pyrotechnic this Fourth of July? Think you’re out of luck because of Florida’s restrictive, weenie, fireworks laws? Is it just too late to drive up to Georgia and smuggle back decent explosives before the big day? Well, at least you can watch big things go boom at a plethora of fireworks displays all around South Florida. Most of them start, very timely, at precisely 9 pm, but not all, so we’ve included them in the listings. Here ye, here ye, to the Curbed Miami 2014 Fireworks Map, after the jump.

BILTMORE HOTEL & COUNTRY CLUB
The City of Coral Gables’ fireworks display is on the Biltmore Hotel’s golf course at 9. View the show from the hotel or anywhere along the course’s perimeter. Heck, you can probably even take a boat up the canal for a great view. The grounds open at 5, and a concert by the Greater Miami Symphonic Band begins at 7. Shuttles run to and from the hotel from parking garages around the city, and there will be complementary bicycle valet at the hotel.

PEACOCK PARK
Fireworks are at 9 in the heart of Coconut Grove, at Peacock Park. Great viewing spots include the park itself, anywhere along McFarlane Road, by boat in the bay, or Dinner Key Marina. Festivities begin at 5 pm, but there’s also an ‘Old Fashioned Picnic’ at the nearby Barnacle from 11-4.

HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY
Homestead-Miami Speedway has an event from 6-10. Fireworks are at 9. As for good viewing spots, you could try the grandstand, but the place is vast and tree-less, so there should be plenty of real estate to go around. Stake a good spot… anywhere.

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY – BISCAYNE BAY CAMPUS
North Miami has their Fireworks show at the F.I.U. Biscayne Bay campus at sundown.Viewing is on the grounds of the Kovens Center. Although the beach at Oleta River State Park closes at Sunset, there’s also great viewing by boat, from the Haulover Sandbar or Beer Can Island/Sandspur Island.

HAULOVER BEACH FLORIDA
Bal Harbour lights off their fireworks display on the southern jetty of Baker’s Haulover cut at 9 pm, making the show easily visible from anywhere along Bal Harbour Beach to the south and Haulover Park to the north. A good, if distant, view may even be had at the Haulover nude beach at the very northern end of the park. Yes, the park closes after dark, but arrive early and stick around. They won’t kick you out.

On the other hand, if you want to get fancy about it, various hotels and restaurants including the St. Regis are offering prix fixe dinner/fireworks deals.

FORT LAUDERDALE BEACH
Fort Lauderdale Beach has a fireworks ‘spectacular’ at 9 pm at the juncture of A1A and Las Olas Boulevard, visible along the beach or from many beachside restaurants along A1A. Check out the fireworks from old school Fort Lauderdale spring break party spot The Elbo Room.

HOLLYWOOD BEACH BROADWALK
The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk is a treat, and a great spot to watch their 9 pm off-shore fireworks display. Sit along the beach, the Broadwalk, or at one of the many beachfront bars or pizza joints.
AZALEA TERRACE, HOLLYWOOD, FL 33019
MIAMI SHORES COUNTRY CLUB
The Village of Miami Shores has their own fireworks display at “9 pm sharp” at the Miami Shores Country Club. Good viewing spots are anywhere on the eastern or far western sides of the golf course, or at the Miami Shores pool, which stays open late for fireworks and swimming. Most of the action is centered at the driving range, which gets pretty packed with picnickers that night, and there’s a concert.

Fireworks start at 9 pm for “America’s Birthday Bash” in Bayfront Park with visibility from the park, one of many downtown skyscrapers, the new Museum Park nearby, or by boat in the bay.

TURNBERRY ISLE RESORT & GOLF CLUB
Aventura has a fireworks display ‘in the round’ and visible from anywhere along Country Club Drive at 9 pm, which means the fireworks go off in the center of the vast golf course that this road circles. Pick a spot on a fairway, maybe along the particularly large lake on East Country Club Drive. You could also go to the Turnberry Isles Resort on West Country Club Drive.

KEY BISCAYNE BEACH CLUB
The Village of Key Biscayne sets off fireworks from a barge off the beach near the Key Biscayne Beach Club at 9 pm. The Village will also be having its annual Fourth of July Parade at 11 AM down Crandon Boulevard.

JC BERMUDEZ PARK DORAL
The City of Doral has their annual fireworks display at JC Bermudez Park at 9:20 pm, following a concert and other festivities beginning at 6.

NORTH SHORE BANDSHELL
The City of Miami Beach’s official fireworks display moves up the beach to the North Shore Park Bandshell (they used to be held at Lummus Park). The 9 PM fireworks display will cap a day of festivities.
